Who are we?
What we offer:

Design
Charles has been designing flowmeters for 40 years. He brings all that experience to bear on traditional mechanical devices, often with Unique Selling Points. His team uses SolidWorks. His latest designs are available from www.positivemeasurement.com

Implementation
Charles has been advising on commissioning, FAT and
implementation issues since 1982. He has built a particularly wide breadth of experience with flowmeters in awkward, non-traditional installations.

Consultancy
Charles has been a director for 30 years and experienced lows and highs, contractions and expansions. He earned the Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2016, achieving two consecutive years of >50% sales growth.

Subsea
Charles has been designing flowmeters for subsea since 1985. They have been used for measuring chemicals and hydraulics in open water and in controlled environments with pressure differentials of 1,035 bar.

PED
Implementation of PED within any organisation is never quite as simple as it sounds. Like many directives, Pressure Equipment touches many aspects of your business. We can help.

HazLoc
Charles has been designing and manufacturing Intrinsically Safe and Flameproof flowmeters and instruments for Hazardous Locations since 1991.

Quality
Charles has audited, managed, refined and added to an ISO9001 Quality Management System since 2004.
He is actively implementing ISO9001 with small companies. They are looking for increased business from larger firms where ISO is mandatory.

Sales & Marketing
Charles has been responsible for worldwide sales and marketing since 2010. This included distributor management, exhibitions and all the ramifications of the internet on physical product sales.

High Pressure, Low Flow
Charles has always specialised in marginal applications where engineering ingenuity and 40 years of experience are essential. Low flow is particularly tricky, and many flowmeter techniques don’t scale well when sizes are reduced.

Wiki
Charles implemented and maintained several wikis (using MediaWiki with various extensions). This tool is used for recording all the important aspects of running a company or project, in one consistent format and location. It enables hyperlinks inside and outside the wiki environment. Neat!

Research & development
Charles has managed a small R&D team throughout the last 30 years. Projects have been wide and varied including Flameproof Hazardous Areas, Intrinsically Safe, Pressure Vessel, Subsea, Shock and Vibration testing and range extension.

We can locate hard-to-find parts for a range of flowmeters, particularly for out-of-production designs. LF03, LF05, LF15, MF30, VFF4, VFF8, VFFULF, HF20 HF40, HF60, HF66, V125, V330 and V400 spares including compatible and/or interchangeable rotors, seals and sensors. See this page.
Frequently Asked Questions

What's the deepest that you've designed for?
In the early 90s, one of our meters was installed on ALVIN for surveying subsea fumaroles. That was 3,000 meters deep. Many more recent ones are designed for 6,900 meters depth.

How can companies measure the ROI (Return on Investment) of their marketing campaign?
More importantly, what metrics should they prioritise to assess the success of their efforts?

How does a QMS help organizations manage and mitigate quality-related risks throughout their supply chain?
Establishing standardised processes, evaluating and auditing suppliers and promoting continuous improvement (don't get me started).

What are the essential safety requirements outlined in the PED?
and how do manufacturers ensure compliance with these requirements when designing and producing pressure equipment?

What's the highest pressure and lowest flow you've designed for?
A petrochemical plant regularly ordered the highest specified flowmeter measuring at almost the lowest flow. 2,500 bar, Autoclave High-Pressure connections and 0.02 to 3 litres per hour, and in a Hazardous Area.

How important are Hazardous Area protection techniques?
They are essential for safeguarding human lives, protecting the environment, complying with regulations, preserving assets, and ensuring business continuity.
